Noisy Trumpet Brings Home Two PRSA Awards

Our team is thrilled to announce we have been selected as award recipients for PRSA’s 2020 San Antonio Del Oro Awards! PRSA San Antonio holds its annual Del Oro Awards contest to recognize the outstanding work and contributions produced by public relations professionals. This year, our work for two clients has been recognized in PRSA’s La Plata Awards division.

Foremost, San Antonio Sports’ “Power of Sport” campaign received a La Plata Excellence award in the category of Community Relations/Public Affairs. Noisy Trumpet developed an integrated and strategic community-focused public relations campaign based on research provided by Core Research linking youth sports to future career success. The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness for San Antonio Sports, educate the public on how the organization benefits the community and raise funds to support the i play! afterschool program. Due to its success, San Antonio Sports has extended the “Power of Sport” campaign into 2020 and has expanded the i play! afterschool program to 10 new schools.

Furthermore, our 2019 campaign with The Devils River Conservancy (DRC) received a La Plata Merit award in the category of Social Media Campaigns. We executed a strategic and engaging social media campaign to help build the organization’s reputation, reinforce “Don’t Blow It” key messaging, and drive attendance to the “Wild Devils” fundraiser. By the end of the year, Noisy Trumpet grew the DRC’s social following to 5.8K followers and received 1.1M impressions, 2.1K messages and 77.2K engagements from users joining the conversation surrounding our campaign.

We are humbled to be rewarded for our efforts with these fine organizations. The virtual Del Oro Awards celebration will be held on Thursday, July 30 at 5 pm. For more information on each campaign, please see our case studies.

Noisy Trumpet Sister Agency, The PM Group, Continues Its Legacy of Charitable Giving

For over 32 years, our sister agency, The PM Group, has created a philanthropic culture of charitable giving, raising substantial funds annually in support of local nonprofit organizations. This year, we are proud to recognize their recent $50,000 donation to San Antonio Sports in support of the organization’s i play! afterschool program.

This donation was a direct result of The PM Group’s annual Texas Hold’em Charity Poker Tournament which took place on January 25, 2020 at Crown Ridge Banquet Hall in San Antonio, Texas. Noisy Trumpet helped promote the tournament through social, digital, and PR efforts and was a part of the volunteer team. One hundred percent of the net funds raised benefitted local charitable organizations like San Antonio Sports’ i play! afterschool program. In addition, another $30,000 was raised to benefit SA YES, Austin YES and CC YES, all 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.

San Antonio Sports’ i play! afterschool is an innovative program that ignites a love of sport in 3rd through 5th graders, while teaching them life lessons about active living, good nutrition, and strong personal character. The program currently serves 1,450 children in 58 elementary schools in San Antonio. With the impact of the pandemic on the organization’s fundraising efforts, this donation was essential for ensuring the program continues to serve and expand throughout our community. The organization also leads several other initiatives including The Power of Sport, the Hall of Fame Tribute, and most recently, Stay Active. Stay Healthy.

“I am proud to continue The PM Group’s legacy of giving to such a worthy organization that impacts our community in so many ways,” said Fran Yanity, President and COO of The PM Group and CEO of Noisy Trumpet.

San Antonio Sports, whose mission is to transform the community through the power of sport, has been an outstanding partner to both our agencies and we are honored to see this contribution benefit such an inspiring initiative.

Stay tuned for more fundraising events with the Noisy Trumpet team. We’re just one call, like, follow, retweet, and DM away.

Noisy Trumpet Receives Recognition from PR Daily

Noisy Trumpet is excited to announce that our campaign with the Devils River Conservancy (DRC) has received an Honorable Mention award for PR Daily’s Digital Marketing and Social Media Awards in the category of “Public Affairs Campaign.” This category recognizes campaigns from around the globe that have influenced public policy through digital and social media channels.

Since 2018, Noisy Trumpet has proudly represented the Devils River Conservancy, a nonprofit organization with a mission to preserve and protect the Devils River and the lands within its watershed. In 2019, our team developed a strategic digital and social media campaign with a goal highlighting three specific initiatives:

  1. Position the DRC as an authority and thought leader in conservation efforts.
  2. Raise awareness of the “Don’t Blow It” campaign.
  3. Drive attendance to the organization’s “Wild Devils” fundraiser.

Our agency provided key message development, social media management, event promotion, email marketing, influencer marketing and digital advertising. As a result, our efforts influenced public opinion through the DRC’s affiliation with government leaders such as Texas Parks and Wildlife, Devils River Association, The Nature Conservancy, Shumla Archeological Research and Education Center and the Military Affairs Association. In addition, the Devils River was named the first International Dark Sky Sanctuary in Texas and the 6th in the world. This critical recognition validated the DRC’s work and raised their profile as a leader in conservation.

It is an honor to be acknowledged for our accomplishments with the Devils River Conservancy and to be internationally recognized for this successful body of work. For a full list of winners and honorable mentions, visit PR Daily’s 2020 Digital Marketing & Social Media Awards.

Noisy Trumpet Supports SA YES and Austin YES Online Auction and Truck Raffle

Noisy Trumpet is proud to support our clients SA YES and Austin YES and their mission to support young students in our community with essential school supplies. We are mutually passionate about their cause, and feel empowered by the opportunity to give back. This year, several events for SA YES and Austin YES were impacted by the pandemic, including their annual Taste of Education Dinner, which typically raises more than $300,000 to support the organization’s initiatives.

In response, Noisy Trumpet assisted SA YES in the launch of their new online auction that offers a variety of exciting items to bid on including TVs, iPads, gift cards, getaways, and more. To further supplement their fundraising efforts, SA YES’ 2020 Drive Away for Education Truck Raffle is underway and will take place June 1 – August 2, 2020. The raffle winner will have the chance to choose between five different truck options in partnership with the Ancira Auto Group and will be announced on Wednesday, August 5 during WOAI’s 10:00 p.m. newscast.

All proceeds from these fundraising initiatives will directly benefit SA YES and Austin YES’ Back to Basics Project for the 2020-2021 school year which will serve up to 18,000 students in San Antonio and Austin.

Noisy Trumpet is humbled to be able to serve our nonprofit clients during this difficult time by helping them shift their fundraising strategies to digital alternatives. In a recent article, Noisy Trumpet CEO Fran Yanity explains that “the key to enduring today’s changing consumer landscape is to strengthen your brand presence by boosting engagement through online and digital channels.”

With most social distancing guidelines still in place, we expect to see a continuous rise in digital marketing needs and we are well-equipped to help clients navigate this shift. In addition to digital, our team is also providing SA YES and Austin YES with web, social media and public relations services.

Tips to Prepare for a Social Media Crisis

Brands are given little to no time to prepare for a social media crisis, which has changed traditional crisis management strategies significantly. With its ability to spread news rapidly across a multitude of platforms, it can be difficult to control. Social media can exacerbate the problem at hand, but through proper planning, social listening and effective communication, you can minimize the damage. Whether you’re a large or a small brand, PR News’ Book of Crisis Management offers tips on how your organization can prepare:

1. Monitor owned and non-owned social media

Brands should monitor their owned and non-owned social media daily to allow more time for crisis preparedness. Non-owned social media includes blogs, message boards, forums, and any other platform your company does not own. These are places are often overlooked when battling a social media crisis. It’s best to set up alerts and other listening tools to notify you of any updates, especially when your brand is mentioned beyond the channels you own.

2. Keep an eye on your competitor

Monitoring other brands’ social media channels within your industry can act as a precedent for an impending crisis. This gives your brand the opportunity to see questions and comments from users, which can help you develop the appropriate responses. Observing what worked and didn’t work for them can guide your strategy.

3. Prepare your responses

Create a list of the questions you anticipate receiving and prepare the responses in advance. The midst of a crisis is not the time to be figuring out key messages. Have these responses already approved so that no time is wasted.

4. Halt non-crisis related social media

Once you’ve determined that your brand is in a crisis, the first step is to stop publishing all unrelated content for the duration of the crisis. Carrying on with regularly scheduled content could make your brand seem tone-deaf and insensitive. While this may mean temporarily blacking out your social media, it is necessary until you’re fully prepared
to handle the crisis.

5. Assign roles before the crisis

Establish a crisis management team and ensure that the organization’s mission and values are understood. Assign who monitors social channels, writes the responses, approves the responses, and publishes the responses. It’s also in your best interest to brief senior leaders with statistics and examples on the risks the brand could encounter on social
media.

Keeping track of engagements, mentions, demographics and other key metrics can serve as a guide for your next potential crisis. Looking for a PR team that plans ahead in order to minimize damage? Contact or stay social with us! We’re just one call, like, follow, retweet, and DM away.

SEO Tips to Improve Your Web Design

Search engine optimization (SEO) optimizes your online presence by pulling consumers in when they search keywords or phrases used by your company. It has become increasingly important to a brand’s overall marketing efforts as it boosts organic traffic to your site and can ultimately increase sales. While SEO can be implemented after a website is live, many businesses don’t realize that SEO should be incorporated into the web design process. This can help make the process efficient and cost-effective since all website changes are happening at the same time.

Here are some SEO best practices to help increase your website’s overall visibility, enhance user experience and create optimal results for your brand.

1. Consider ditching homepage sliders & carousels

Although they are still commonly used today, homepage sliders and carousels cause more harm than good by:

  • Slowing down website load times.
  • Pushing down your valuable content.
  • Appearing and functioning poorly on mobile devices.

2. Make your website mobile-friendly

  • Mobile-friendly design is paramount. Don’t just design with desktop in mind.
  • With so many people accessing web pages across a variety of devices, current web design practices entail using responsive design.
  • Keep in mind that important elements should have more prominence.
  • Because of its high visibility, the content that you place above the fold (on both mobile and desktop) should be the content that is most important to achieving your business goals.

3. Optimize your images

Optimization can be done in different ways, but it is the process of delivering high-quality images in the right size, format dimension and resolution. This will help improve things like page speed, boost SEO ranking and improve user experience.

  • Be sure to name and save your images accurately with SEO-friendly file names.
  • Don’t use large images, as it will slow loading time. The smaller and more compressed, the better. Google cannot read images with text in them. When possible, use live text.

4. Enhance your user experience

Good SEO isn’t just about the technical details; it’s also about helping people easily find the information they’re looking for and providing a great user experience on the site. An
attractive, easy-to-use interface will encourage visitors to stay on your site and find what they need.

  • Design each page with one single definitive purpose.
  • Understand your target audience’s needs and demands.
  • Action buttons need to stand out and include a clear description of their purpose.

5. Strategically place strong calls to actions (CTAs)

CTAs drive conversions and generate leads.

  • Make sure to have a clear CTA at the top of your page.
  • Call-to-action buttons should feature striking, action-oriented text. You want to tell users what to do and make it easy for them to do it. Your action words should go along with specific text relating to your offer like:
    • Let’s Talk
    • Reserve Your Seat
    • Download Whitepaper

How to Navigate COVID-19’s Media Shift

The spread of COVID-19 is having a major impact across all industries in San Antonio and across the globe. While we have not experienced a crisis exactly like the coronavirus in recent history, we have persevered through other crises that led to heightened levels of anxiety.

Noisy Trumpet understands the situation companies are in during these unprecedented, uncertain times. The marketplace has changed dramatically and consumer behaviors are evolving. During this crisis, Noisy Trumpet is helping clients navigate the changing marketplace and continue to connect with their target audiences through a variety of digital marketing and PR tactics so that they can continue to thrive despite “the new normal.”

Consumer Behaviors and Media is Shifting; Your Marketing Strategy Should Too

With much of the workforce now working from home, there have been major changes in media consumption habits. People are spending more time on digital channels than ever before. These changes include:

  • A 200% increase in Connected TV (CTV) consumption since March 1st, 2020.
  • 80% of consumers say they consume more content since the outbreak.
  • 60% of consumers who are staying indoors are also watching films, news, and general programming via connected devices.
  • Audiences at home are consuming media at a 60% higher rate.
  • 44% of consumers say they are spending longer time on social media.
  • There has been an 18% increase in total ad call volume compared to March 2019.
  • Email open rates have risen by up to 25% week-on-week in retail.
  • CTV news viewership has increased nearly 50% since the outbreak began.

This change in media consumption presents a unique opportunity to tap into digital marketing and PR tactics while users’ attention is captured. From PR campaigns and content creation to social media and digital advertising, Noisy Trumpet specializes in creating powerful marketing solutions that drive results for our clients. We are monitoring these changing trends to help our clients create a road map to success.

To help your company navigate through these challenging times, below are five tips to incorporate into your marketing strategy in light of  COVID-19.

1. Stay Positive

For many of us, this is a time of unease with the coronavirus and news changing rapidly. It is important to stay positive, not just for your own wellbeing but also for your brand. Brands who continue to be a resource and produce positive content are able to cultivate loyal customers. This crisis will end, and when it does, it is important that consumers see your brand as one that was present and supportive during the difficult times. Be honest and genuine in your communication. Highlight your community presence – more than ever consumers want to purchase from philanthropic companies who are giving back to their communities.

2. Keep your Brand Presence

Some companies may feel the pull of economic pressures and decide to cut their marketing and communications budgets. This is unfortunate since now more than ever, audiences are house-bound and consuming media at rapid rates. Even if you have to pivot your messaging from earlier plans, keep up your brand presence across all channels and mediums.

Influencer Marketing Hub surveyed 35,000 consumers about their views on brands advertising through the COVID-19 crisis. Only 8% thought brands should stop advertising. However, your messaging should pivot with the changing times. Re-brand materials with a softer, more positive message that shows your connection to the community. 75% of consumers think brands should inform people of what they’re doing, but keep in mind 74% think companies should not exploit the situation. Use this time to strengthen brand awareness by providing your community with online resources and content. Ignite genuine conversations with your consumers. We’re seeing clients support their consumers by sending personalized video messages, providing at-home workouts, and much more – even if it doesn’t contribute to the bottom line right now. When this time is over, consumers will remember the brands that sustained communication and showed empathy during this difficult time.

3. Think Outside the Box

Social behaviors have changed and right now that is ok. Because large gatherings and special events are not possible, we have seen cancelations of major events such as South by Southwest, nonprofit galas, and even the postponing of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. These cancelations can be devastating to the organizers and attendees alike. We encourage organizers to think outside the box and find ways to keep your audience connected. If customers can’t come to you, bring your service or product to them digitally. Rely on digital marketing to help create an online alternative that will engage your customer base and keep your company on the forefront. This could include tactics like leaning more heavily on e-commerce storefronts and virtual events.

During this crisis, Noisy Trumpet has been able to help one of our nonprofit clients shift from a 1,000-guest gala to an online auction. The nonprofit depends on donations raised at their annual event to support their operating budget for the rest of the year. Through digital marketing, Noisy Trumpet was able to promote the online auction and secure over 90% of the donations they typically receive at their in-person event – at significantly less cost to them.

Noisy Trumpet helped transition San Antonio Sport’s Hall of Fame Tribute to an Online Mega Auction

4. Email and Post it – Engage your Audience

The cadence of consumer lives has changed. In the past, digital research could tell you the best days and times to send certain correspondence. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, consumers’ days are not as scheduled – people are checking emails and social media accounts at all hours of the day. We encourage companies to continue sending e-blasts and keep customers engaged. People have more time on their hands right now and email open rates have increased up to 25%, with daily email open rates generally increasing by 5-10% each week.

Social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have seen a rise in usage as well. People are using social media to help them stay connected with family and friends, get news updates, and consume entertainment. Viewership is at an all-time high and yet, according to Influencer Marketing Hub, 74% of brands are posting less on their company’s social accounts. Don’t hesitate to engage your audience on social media! Post relevant information, use video and make it personal. Involve your audience in polls, highlight the best local take-out, or ways you are paying it forward.

Now more than ever, your audience wants to see that we are all living a shared experience. They have the time to read your emails and content so email and post it.

5. Now is the Time

If your company has not yet taken the leap into the digital field, now is the time.

Audience and attention rates are at an all-time high. Time online – including online shopping – is increasing. Now is the time to help users find your products and services and to choose your company over competitors by getting your name out there. But you can’t do that if your social presence is lacking or your website is hard to find, outdated, or nonexistent.

If you have a digital presence, now is the time to step up your marketing efforts.

Remind consumers why your product and services are still relevant and needed. Even though times are constantly changing, your business is still important and your customers are restless at home. Keep up your SEO strategy by continuing to post relevant content. When normalcy resumes you want to make sure you are still at the top of Google’s SERPs. Take it a step further and do an SEO audit to make sure your strategy is still applicable.

Talk to your agency about expanding to newer advertising options like Connected TV (CTV) and Over-the-Top (OTT). CTV and OTT provide users a different way to watch TV across multiple types of screens with no cable or satellite subscription required (like Apple TV, Roku etc.). Currently, consumers are seeking digital entertainment options and streaming services. From March 16th through the 22nd, viewers spent about 40% more time streaming both ad-supported and subscription TV compared to the previous week, according to data from Vizio Inc. CTV and OTT are able to align your brand with a highly engaged audience based on their consumption habits.

How Noisy Trumpet is Embracing the New Normal

Today’s current climate has affected all of our clients differently, but Noisy Trumpet has remained a constant resource for any support or service they may need. As a result of precautions set forth by the impact of COVID-19, the Noisy Trumpet team is currently working remotely and is well equipped with the necessary tools and resources to make the transition as seamless as possible.

The agency remains open, fully operational, and present for new and existing clients. In order to keep consistent communication and team morale at the forefront, our team is participating in weekly video conferencing calls that help provide a sense of connectivity from remote locations. In addition, we are staying abreast of the latest industry trends by participating in webinars, reading trade publications, and sharing useful resources with one another. We are using this time to re-examine our current marketing assets and collateral while honing our skills to better serve our clients’ needs.

Ultimately, we’ve pivoted several of our public relations and digital initiatives, tailoring our efforts to best serve our clients in whatever capacity that may be. Here are some of the ways Noisy Trumpet is continuing to deliver exceptional services with measurable results:

Olympia Hills Golf & Event Center

Located just outside of San Antonio, Texas, Olympia Hills is recognized as one of the best golf and event venues in the area. Initially, Noisy Trumpet was tasked with a public relations push focused around the venue’s golf operations. As a result of COVID-19, the course was shut down indefinitely, and we quickly shifted our focus to capitalize on areas of the venue that were still operational, namely their dining offerings. Olympia Hills is providing Family Meals To-Go to better serve their community through carryout dining options and free delivery service to senior citizens. Noisy Trumpet is supporting these initiatives through social media promotion and traditional media outreach while identifying curbside and to-go forums to highlight Olympia Hills’ new services. The venue has also partnered with the “Pharm 2 Table” fundraiser, an initiative started by a friend of Olympia Hills, Jeff Harrison. The initiative is raising funds to supply family-style meals to first responders free of charge to thank them for their service.

Family Meals To-Go provided by Olympia Hills Golf & Event Center

San Antonio Sports

San Antonio Sports is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to transform the community through the power of sport. San Antonio Sports’ “Hall of Fame Tribute,” the organization’s largest annual fundraiser, set for March 28 was canceled and postponed to February 2021. The event attracts over 1,000 attendees and secures more than $400,000 worth of auction items. With our help, San Antonio Sports successfully transitioned to an online mega auction with hundreds of items to bid on including sports collectibles, gift cards, travel packages, and more. In addition, Noisy Trumpet is supporting San Antonio Sports’ i play! afterschool program, which ignites a love of sport in 3rd through 5th graders, while teaching them life lessons about active living, good nutrition, and strong personal character. The program currently serves 1,450 children in 58 elementary schools in San Antonio. Although the program is at a halt, San Antonio Sports is continuing to provide sports and fitness opportunities for children by sharing resources for them to stay active and healthy at home. To support this mission, Noisy Trumpet developed a special “Stay Active, Stay Healthy” coloring sheet and infographic to help keep kids moving during quarantine, and has connected with local media outlets to share this initiative. On social media, we’re asking influencers to post a video of them exercising or re-post the infographic with the hashtag #iStayActive.

San Antonio Sports and i play! afterschool present “Stay Active. Stay Healthy.”

SA YES

SA YES is a nonprofit organization with a simple purpose: to provide free school supplies to Title 1 elementary students that need assistance. During this unprecedented time, SA YES is continuing to work diligently on securing resources and supplies for students. Unfortunately, their two largest annual events, the Taste of Education Dinner and Golf Classic Tournament have been canceled, which represents over 51 percent? of their budget. SA YES has shifted their focus to the immediate needs of the audience they proudly serve, the children. Our team is supporting SA YES by helping them compile a list of at-home resources for parents and children to help sustain education during this time. We have also developed the following interactive challenges to keep students active while maintaining social distancing:

Sidewalk Chalk Challenge

  • Kids are encouraged to go outside and draw or write
words of encouragement on the sidewalk with chalk.
  • With parental permission, post photos of the artwork on Twitter @SAYES_ORG or Facebook @SAYESORG using the #sidewalkchalkchallenge

Kids Coloring Challenge

  • Kids are encouraged to draw their favorite subject in
school, sport, favorite book character, or a picture of you and your best friend.
  • With parental permission, post photos of the artwork
on Twitter @SAYES_ORG or Facebook @SAYESORG using the #SAYESColoringChallenge.
