A Time to Give, Amidst A Historic Week of Weather

San Antonio typically boasts 300 days of sunshine each year. Texans are much more familiar with heatwave advisories than winter storms. That all changed last week when two winter storms took the entire state by surprise, and their impact has left residents in disarray.

The storms began peacefully as Texans were in awe of the snowy landscape. Many took the time to enjoy one of the rare instances in weather history where nearly the entire state was blanketed with snow.

The winter storms moved in and out over the week, leaving thousands of residents without power and water. The city shut down inspired a sense of community both locally and nationwide for those who needed assistance.

Events such as these – although not ideal – often result in an outpouring of generosity from individuals, corporations, and charities. At Noisy Trumpet, the well-being of our employees, and those in our community are our top priority. We are mindful that last week’s storms impacted individuals in different ways, so we wanted to offer a list of resources to assist those in need, and those looking for ways to assist their neighbors.

A Super Bowl Sunday Unlike Any Other

If you are anything like the 148.5 million people around the world, you spent your Sunday night watching Super Bowl LV. Whether you are a football fan or not, it seemed like this year’s Super Bowl elicited more buzz than previous years. As a result of the pandemic, people are hunkered down at home, creating the perfect recipe for a highly-viewed event. This year, there was also a general sense of curiosity as to how the game could be played while adhering to COVID-19 protocols. Would the audience be socially distant? What was in store for the halftime show? And most importantly for us marketing folks, what were the ads going to look like?

Leading up to the game, the buzz was that major advertisers synonymous with prior Super Bowls, such as Budweiser, Coke, Pepsi, and Hyundai, were not going to feature ads this year. Instead, the companies would put those marketing dollars towards COVID relief efforts. The cost to place a 30-second ad in the Super Bowl is $5.6 million. With that high price tag and the majority of businesses taking a financial hit this year due to the pandemic, it’s likely that other businesses shifted their plans and sat this one out as well.

Although there were still companies that secured their Super Bowl spotlight, looking holistically at the commercials, the often care-free and lightheartedness shifted to a focus on building a sense of community. There were still the much-welcomed displays of humor but overall, the sentiment felt different.

In the world of marketing, professionals listen to the pulse of their audience and produce content that will effectively resonate with them. Advertisers this year provided us with content that was full of emotion, glimpses of positivity, and a sense of humor. What Super Bowl commercial resonated with you, and why?

At Noisy Trumpet, we take the time to listen to our clients’ needs and provide them with results-driven resources that will allow their campaigns to succeed. Elevating Our PR Campaigns Through Influencer Marketing

There’s so much chatter these days about social influencers. But, what is an ‘influencer’ and what do they do?

According to COMMPRO an influencer is someone who influences others’ buying decisions. In other words, it’s someone with authority over or trust of, a certain group of people. In marketing, there is a direct correlation between the social influencer and specific consumer buying decisions and actions.

In recent years, companies, agencies and brands have been using influencers to create a direct connection with their target audience. At Noisy Trumpet, we utilize influencers to promote client events, exhibitions, and raise awareness about particular initiatives.

When it comes to influencers, it’s important to keep in mind that not all individuals are an appropriate fit for all campaigns. As a result, our public relations team takes the time to research and curate a well-curated database of individuals for each of our clients, in order to execute a successful PR campaign. Due to the nature of the influencer’s followers, the content they share is strongly regarded as authentic, therefore motivating their audience to support the particular initiative or campaign as well.

Some examples of our most recent influencer marketing events and initiatives include:

  • San Antonio Botanical Garden: In order to draw further awareness of the Garden’s OrigamiintheGarden2 exhibition, Noisy Trumpet produced a private “sneak peek” event for a select few social influencers to visit and cross-promote the exhibition. The influencers were strategically chosen based on their social content and audience, enabling the agency to reach the niche audiences of Gen X, Millennials, and families interested in the arts. The invite-only event featured light bites, drinks and a cocktail demonstration in theme with the exhibition while allowing the influencers to explore the garden. Influencers were then encouraged to share photos and videos from the event on their social feeds utilizing the appropriate hashtag. The promotional efforts provided by social influencers, in addition to the San Antonio Botanical Garden’s morning show appearances, resulted in 24 hits (broadcast and online) garnering 3,716,489 total impressions.
  • San Antonio Museum of Art: In an effort to promote the “Texas Women” exhibition at the San Antonio Museum of Art, our PR team compiled a list of colleges/universities, local artists/organizations/groups, apartment complexes, and corporations to invite to the exhibition. Our team thought outside of the box, and incorporated strategic partnerships in our outreach efforts in addition to individuals. By offering this select group a discount code for the exhibition, we invited them to visit the museum and share photos and videos on their social feeds. In the timespan of one month, around 32k followers were reached and over 10k email subscribers joined the mailing list.
  • Mission Ridge Range and Academy: To raise awareness for Mission Ridge Range and Academy during the holiday season, our PR team helped position the company as an industry leader for gun safety, products and as the premier shooting range in San Antonio. This was accomplished by coordinating and promoting a private influencer event as well as a holiday-themed event for the general public where gun safety kits were distributed to the first 500 attendees. First, the agency hosted an invite-only influencer ‘Friendsgiving’ event at the gun range with food, drinks, and offered a hands-on range time demonstration for the attendees. Influencers were then asked to share their experiences on their social feeds and encourage followers to participate in the public Holiday Gun Safety Kit Giveaway that took place in December. Overall, we secured (11) influencers which resulted in over 332k impressions. As a result of our efforts, Mission Ridge Range & Academy exceeded their attendance expectations for their public event, distributed all gun safety kits allotted for the event, and reached a new client-base that had not previously engaged with the brand, products, or range.

We’ve said our goodbyes to 2020 and we’re welcoming the new year with high hopes! Now is the perfect time for businesses to set new goals and resolutions that will take them to the next level. To help, Noisy Trumpet has compiled a list of resolutions we recommend you follow to enhance your strengths and maximize results.

  1. Stay up to date with the latest industry trends
The marketing world changes every day. We recommend reading the latest books/articles published in the field, attending webinars/training, and connecting with fellow industry experts. (Hint: You don’t have to go too far! Hit like on our social pages, or send us a message to chat.)
  2. Embrace the art of delegation
It’s important to recognize that one person alone can’t, and should not, do everything. Build trust with your team and allow them to use their skills to support you. Delegation is key to a healthy work-life balance.
  3. Maintain consistency
If you’re planning an event, campaign, or any initiative, make a calendar plan and stick to it. The deadlines you set for yourself will be the key to your success. Working with an agency or partner will help keep you accountable.
  4. Push the boundaries of your PR strategy
We speak from experience. Noisy Trumpet is always looking for new, exciting thought leadership opportunities for our clients outside of the traditional PR tactics. Taking the risk has always led to amazing results.
  5. Refresh your website design
Every website should be updated at least every 3-4 years to keep up with the latest website, tech, and SEO trends. If you aren’t sure what areas need improvement, a quick website audit from an expert web team, like our own, can help you gauge the time, cost, and effort needed.
  6. Reevaluate your investment in Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising
It’s time to ask: Are you reaching the right audience with a Google Search campaign? What’s changed with the keywords and searches people are using? Work with a top-rated Google Ads Partner like Noisy Trumpet if you’re not sure where to start.
  7. Dive into new social media trends
There’s always something new and fun on social media. Test out as many trends as you can in 2021! Who knows, you could go viral.
  8. Explore new advertising platforms and tools
There are many avenues to push your message through advertising. Don’t be afraid to try new advertising platforms like CTV, Spotify, Snapchat, and many more, that could better align strategically with your campaigns and goals.
  9. Continue to support each of your team members
We like to believe our Noisy Trumpet team is proof we are stronger together. Open the lines of communication within and outside your marketing team. When your entire business supports each other and communicates, you will not only work harmoniously but also produce maximum results.
  10. Give back to the community
Make deeper connections with the community you serve by giving back to the nonprofits that do so much for our city. You’ll find oftentimes your actions are rewarded with well-deserved recognition.

What are your digital marketing resolutions for the new year?

Noisy Trumpet is a San Antonio-based, digital marketing and public relations agency with the skills and expertise to help you not only strategize your resolutions but also keep them. Send us a message to start planning your success.

Noisy Trumpet CEO Helps Lead the Way for Future PR Professionals

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is the nation’s leading professional organization dedicated to communications professionals. As a result of Noisy Trumpet CEO Fran Yanity’s thought leadership and active community mentorship, she recently accepted a position on the Board of Directors for PRSA’s San Antonio chapter. During this annual term, she will specifically chair the management and promotion of The Marilyn Potts Endowment Fund, dedicated to the chapter’s previous and late President, Marilyn Potts.

Created in 2007, The Marilyn Potts Endowment Fund aims to support communications students in the community by providing scholarships and offering professional development opportunities tailored to meet the needs of young practitioners. The fund will help mentor the next generation of public relations leaders in San Antonio.

A ‘community-first’ mindset has been a prominent pillar since the foundation of the agency. From the beginning, our CEO believed that in order to lead the way for future communications professionals in our community, you must invest in their growth. Therefore, this year Noisy Trumpet is honored to match the $1,000 scholarship amount which will benefit a full-time enrolled student at a local university pursuing a communications degree who has demonstrated active participation in public relations outside of the classroom.
